This is a beautiful and somewhat frightening story about friendship that can’t be described with words.

Dougies parents think he is troubled so they send him to a therapist which Dougie thinks he doesn’t need. I find it troubling that she finds me disturbing, so she must be right.

His hobby is building elaborate model trains and his only best friend is Andy Morrow. But what’s excellent about it is that, once you figure out what’s happening, knowledge of the mystery only amplifies the poignancy and urgency of the story. I recommend reading this book if you loved sitting down and pets reading for fun.

As the book progresses, Dougie mentions attending and skipping therapy sessions and not taking the medications he had been prescribed for anxiety. As in, Andy must be dead, faking it, or doesn’t exist at all. Where Doug is what the gorgeous Melissa Haverman calls a “worm,” Andy is one of the most popular boys in school — a football star who’s also successful in drama invisiblle on student council.
I think it makes me sound more respectable.

I just find it so sad how they both were interested invjsible fire and yet Andy had died in a fire and Doug gets burns all over his face and body from his play trains having exploded at the end of the book. At first, after having recently read many books on the subject of autism, I wondered if he was on the spectrum. But there’s more to Doug’s relationship with Andy hauutman meets the eye, and as your read on, you’ll find I’ve decided to write a small review in light of the fact I chose to re-read this book for my English class’s literature circle.
Athletic and popular, Andy is very different from socially inept Dougie, yet the two find things to talk about.
